Tattered Floral Challenge

Tattered Floral Challenge

The flower challenge was to create flowers using Tim's Tattered Florals  Die. We could use any medium we wanted to create our flowers, and could use the flowers wherever we desired. On Tim's site
http://timholtz.com/tattered-floral-challenge/ you can see details of the challenge and check out the flowers he made, as well as the projects from other Tim fans. Stop over and check it out!

Did someone say flowers?   Okay, I stopped laughing long enough to get to work on my flowers ( if you missed it you must read Saturday's post ). My little experiment turned out  to be interesting . If you look at # 1, 2 , 5 and 6 ( counting from left to right) you will recognize my "famous" pieces!
I made my flowers using some recycled elements; napkins, dictionary pages, Styrofoam, dryer sheets, turkey carrier, plastic packaging, Starbucks coffee cup sleeves and misc. scraps of canvas and burlap. I had so much fun experimenting; I accidentally melted the Styrofoam but it made a unique design (#1). I also over heated the plastic, but I love how it curved the edges of the flowers ( # 2.3, and 6).
I used my dylusions inks on the Styrofoam and cardboard flower parts ( 1,5 and 6); distressing inks on the plastic, and floral parts(2 and 3). On the napkins and on some of the plastic floral parts of (4-6)  I used perfect pearls mist , on the canvas I used distress markers ( I actually outlined the edges and spritzed the edges with water, drying it immediately... so cool to watch the ink react with the water), and distressing ink on the cardstock and dictionary paper. The centers of my flowers were the Idea-ology Custom Fasteners. I plan to use my flowers as pins ... I did not have the tie tacs on hand but I'll pick some up on payday! ( I may also try the pin bars). Hope you enjoyed my flowers... now you go make some :) !  Oh and I plan to add Tattered leaves to them also... I couldn't wait to show them off. Oh my goodness it's 1:00 A.M., I was going to bed early tonight... LOL !!

What Is This You Say ?

What is this you say?

Happy Saturday morning everybody! Are you ready for your weekend laugh?
This is the reason that you should never get up before 11:00 A.M. if you went to bed at 3:00 A.M. !
Okay ... so Tim Holt'z is hosting a Tattered Floral Challenge http://timholtz.com/tattered-floral-challenge/; you know how I LOVE Tim Holtz , so I'm thinking oh yeah that would be fun I have that die; what could I do that would be creative/ experimental... hum ? I got the BRIGHT idea  to use house hold items... dryer sheet, coffee sleeve, cardboard, styrofoam  and turkey carrier ( it's okay to laugh now) I'm still laughing as I'm doing this post). Okay so the first one was messy, it looked like this, I'm thinking ( or at least I thought I was "thinking"); there must be a better way to do it so the pieces don't go all over and cut up in these silly pieces (dah... I'm still not getting a clue! )... so I did it AGAIN  this time putting paper between the die and the turkey carrier ( I'm wiping tears now from laughing so hard), it did make a mess... BUT this time not directly on the die !!! OMG ... I CANNOT BELIEVE IT TOOK ME THAT LONG... to realize that's a BAD idea... or is it ???
You'll have to come back tomorrow or next week to see (after you stop laughing). Okay, I'm going to go eat brunch and get ready for a wedding ... that's what I should have been doing... darn that Tim... I get so excited what can I say, I wanted to get started... See you soon... it's okay I'm STILL LAUGHING !!!

February Tag 12 Tags of 2013

Hi everybody! Hope you had a wonderful Valentine's Day!
I can't believe I almost forgot to post my February tag, especially since I was so excited about it. I tell you I have totally fallen in love with the blueprint stamps. It's so cool that Tim used the Queen of Hearts for the tag ( I'm the Queen you know ). I'm gettin' the hang of the distress markers, Tim's gonna make an artist out of me yet! Working with the Core'dinations Seasonal Impressions was so easy and so fun, in that black it just made the tag pop. I liked so much about this tag ( it's a Tim tag what can I say ), the paper ribbon made from the tissue tape was awesome. Another tag fun tag completed.. don't you just love the colors ... the combination of festive berries and fired brick distress stain background is so rich... fit for a Queen ! Well, that's all for now , do go check out the tags of the rest of the Tim Community they are amazing as usual http://timholtz.com/12-tags-of-2013-february/. You should consider joining us it's so much fun and you learn so much!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ANTHONY EMMANUEL WALKER!

Happy 12th Birthday Anthony !
Twelve years ago today I became a grandmother for the 1st time. I STILL remember the events of the day before and on that day ( I spent the night sitting up in a hard chair with shingles) waiting  for you to come. I'm not sure whose pain was worse mine or your mothers. You seemed like you were in a hurry to get here; when we went to the doctor he sent us to the hospital, by time we got there You decided you weren't ready after all ( you settled in)... I had plans to get you here and go home and get in my bed... no such luck !!  When you finally arrived I went out to the waiting room to let the family members know you were here... they wanted to know what you looked like ,I laughed and said a "peanut". So you became Grammi's "Peanut" ! Happy Birthday! I'm proud to be your grandmother ( even though it took a full year for it to sink in that I was a grandmother). I see your mother and your father in you; and your own unique little character... you're a pretty cool kid; love your smile! You're pretty smart too, I wish you nothing but success in the coming years! Take your time growing up, continue to be the BEST YOU , you can be... you are destined for greatness! Love you much  Grammi !

Inner Panel

Confession... I was at a loss for this panel... it took the longest time... can you believe it?
Sooo I repeated the stripe ( from the pocket section) added forget me not... I had to laugh
'cause I forgot that panel in the planning!  There you have it ... Happy Valentine's Day !
Oh... side note ... I so apologize for a long post. There was a 'change' in my computer set up and programing between my cell phone and my lap top (y'all KNOW how I HATE changes when I'm in the middle of projects) I DID NOT WANT TO DO A TUTORIAL with my husband in the middle of my project. I really have to get my husband and these computer company's on the same page... they ALWAYS manage to have a major change when I need my computer to work in the manner  in which I'm accustomed in a timely manner. I guess I'll have to add a tutorial to my to do list, this weekend! Thanks for being patient with me ... see you soon!

Back of Card

Back of card was fun too ... that Tim Holtz stamp was just so perfect. I added the lips dimensional stick and bling on the lips for a sassy touch ( there were lips on the postcard on the front so I thought it  would be fun to add some on the back) ...A cupid stamp, small letter  and love sentiment ...could not have found a better addition... It's a Valentine love letter !

Card Panel 3

For panel 3 I created a pocket adding a strip of fussy cut flowers ( I love those flowers) to the top. In the pocket I added a red lace dollie, a stacked heart created with black and red cardstock to repeat the black and red combo from panel 1. I added two tags embellished with embroidery floss , bling and glitter heart brad. I also added bling on my script paper pieces.

Card Inside Panel 1 and 2

I created my card using G45 , Tim Holtz, and Queendom Stash. It is fun to create using what I have on hand , but that sometimes creates a challenge in itself. Anyway, as stated earlier I used G45 Place In Time February  Cut-Aparts, Tim Holtz Classics #8 Stamps, Worn lipstick , fired brick, and Vintage photo distressing inks,  ribbons from Celebrate It and Creative Impressions, dimensional stickers from Recollections and bling from Queendom Stash.
To create a vintage feel, I used 2 Kraft cards for my base, that I attached to create the tri-fold. I lightly distressed the backgrounds with the distressing inks, lightly misting them to wick the colors and immediately drying with the heat tool. Next I stamped the Valentine images to the 1st and the back panel using sepia archival ink.  I cut panels from A Place In Time , rounded the corners and them distressed them with vintage photo distressing ink. I cut all my remaining elements and distressed them all. I used a sheet of script tissue paper to create partial layers for the 1st and 3rd panel, tearing and distressing the edges. Panel 1  I layered the photo of the "lovers" using black and red card stock, then embellished them with some fussy cut flowers and added the dimensional stickers.
Panel 2 I cut a strip from Place In Time,  cut it apart between the phrases and then crinkled it, adding one at the top and one at the bottom; added an embellished tag a dimensional heart sticker and a fussy cut flower section and a heart brad.

February Challenge

February Challenge

Hi everybody ... Happy Valentine's Day !

Graphic 45 is having a Valentine Project Challenge this month . I thought it would be fun to participate. I'm slightly  at a disadvantage trying to show what it looks like with one photo.
I used the  Place In Time February Cut-a-parts for my project. It was so fun!
The inspiration for my card came from a memory of a bundle of letters in my grandmother's belongings; it just tugged at my heartstrings.
So my project is a trifold card.

Monday, February 11, 2013

I cut the heart from grunge paper using the movers & shapers mini heart die. I colored it with fired brick and worn lipstick distressing inks, dried it and then stamped it with a portion of the love definition stamp. For an added embellishment I repeated the x pattern that I created with the tiny attacher on the side on my heart... pretty fun! I'm pleased with how it came out. I decided to distress the envelope with the worn lipstick and fired brick distressing inks.
I repeated my pattern of the random mixed media stamp and the love definition on the envelope ( you know how I love those special touches). It's not morning ... BUT it's ready for the mail !
Happy Valentine's Day!

I used the Valentine Mini Blueprint Stamp, I used gold perfect pearls paint ( that I mixed for a previous project) to highlight the number 14. Just a note, I had this paint left in my palette from a few months ago and I just used my wet paint brush to "freshen" it... this is so awesome ! I used fired brick distress marker on part of the number one to give more definition...I like the effect.

February Monthly Challenge
Inspiration Emporium

Hi , I'm back...
Okay my friends over at Inspiration Emporium http://blog.inspirationemporium.com/ are having their monthly Challenge. You know I hate to be left out. So I made this Valentine Card ( you know the one I told you about that was supposed to be in the mail this morning).
Using a kraft base I used my Tim Holtz Valentine Background and Borders Set to emboss my card. Then I used worn lipstick and fired brick distressing inks to "shade" various parts of the background and the raised areas. When it dried using the Mixed Media Stamp , I stamped randomly around the card. I also used portions of my love definition stamp in random areas.

I created an ATC card for the center of my card using the 14 blueprint stamp from the Mini Blueprint Set. Using the black archival ink I stamped the blue print stamp, once it dried I highlighted the fourteen and stamped the mixed media stamp and love definition lightly in the background. Using my tiny attacher I embellished the side and added some tiny heart brads from my stash (making memories); and added a twine bow.

ATC Fun

Hi everybody! Wow , it's been busy around the Queendom. I've been working on UFOs
and that time just crept up on me...VALENTINE'S DAY ... oh no!
So I'm supposed to be making a card so it could be in the mail this morning...
hahaha ( I do know it is afternoon now). I sat down last night trying to come up with something for a special friend, I started playing with me mini blueprints...OMG ... they are so fun, ATC are more fun anyway right? I did not think I would like the blueprints (only 'cause I did not know what I would do with them), they are fun. Anyway, I just played around with different techniques.
I used my distressing inks, my distress pens, perfect pearls (left over from previous projects in my palette...they freshen up nice btw) and just had fun!
The background is done with fired brick and worn lipstick distress ink that I randomly put on the ACT with the blending tool then I misted it to wick the colors, I dried it with heat tool, then I flicked water from my fingers on to them... so cool, so fun !
Using my distresser I distressed the edges, then went over them with vintage photo distress ink followed by fired brick... don't you just love that rich color?
Using my mixed media stamps , my love definition stamp and another Valentine stamp from my stash I created various backgrounds. I even played around with some moldeling paste ... woo stepping out of comfort zone... it was fun (love heart blue print). Okay play time is over
I gotta make a card...guess I'll use one of the ATCs on my card!  ATC are a great way to experiment and have fun all at the same time ...Enjoy! On be sure to come back and see the card later on !
