12 TAGS OF 2014 January Tag

12 Tags of 2014 January

Hi everybody... Happy Thursday!  Here I am with my tag ( 1 day 11 hrs.  17mins. to go ) gettin'
better.  My, my , my ... this one was a "doosy" ! I love it ... we are working with the Pocket Watch Frame Die, Sized Circles Die and Blueprint and Gears Embossing folders . You have got to check out Tim's site http://timholtz.com/12-tags-of-2014-january/ for these instructions; this is so amazing. The background as I started was the most fun using the layering stencil technique but as I did the pocket frame with the foil tape and embossing folder I got even more excited... I just love all of these techniques, which seem so intimidating until you get started. Just so fun and so rewarding to actually  do them.

Now that splatter paint technique I'm still getting the hang of but it sure is cool; I'm embracing my imperfections as you can see in the third photo but I absolutely love what happened in the right hand corner... so cool ! Oh and the worn technique on the remnant rubs... awesome touch!
Really if you have never done these tags, you should... it's so rewarding !
Speaking of rewarding... Tim did some extra details on this tag on the custom type charm... oh my goodness I took one look at it and said " I don't think so!"  Well Mr. Holtz... I TOOK THE CHALLENGE ... Woo Hoo I DID IT !!! OMG that had to be the most tedious part I have ever done !
I got so excited about it  ( or happy I was finished with it) I forgot to distress the edges before I put the bubble on ... oh well ... I'm not too disappointed. Thank you Tim for another awesome tag! Okay don't forget to go check out the other tags of Tim's fans, they are awesome too. See you next time... I'm gonna check and see if your tag is there ... you better get started ... you still have time ! :)

Just had to share ... They came out cute! Tags I made for some special friends ...just playing around with my Tim Holtz layered stencilsj I used Holly Bough ( yes I know it's not Christmas...I wanted the leaves) and Shatter. They make such fun backgrounds. I was clearing off my work area and just kind of created with some things that were there. Way too much fun...had to make room for the UFOS for today ... Got Five lined up for today! Will do January Tim Tag tomorrow... See ya !

January Get Altered Challenge

Hi everybody ! WOW I've been busy, how about you ? With CHA wrapping up I thought I would get in a challenge. Oh no cutting it real close. The first challenge I'm participating in is Eclectic Paperie's January Get Altered Challenge. They always have such fun challenges and it's very hard to pass it up. You should go over and check them out  http://eclecticpaperie.blogspot.com/2014/01/hearts-january-get-altered-challenge.html. This months theme hosted by Sue Lelli is hearts.
My project is an altered heart shape  dish . I found a pewter dish that I wanted to try my hand at Tim Holtz's faux patina technique from his Compendium of Curiosities Vol.II . I used bottle, lettuce, and stream alcohol ink. The dish I chose was a little difficult to do, but very interesting.
Once my dish dried I had my hubby drill holes in it for me as I wanted to make it a hanger for my craft room.
Using spun sugar and Victorian velvet distressing ink I colorized the crinkle ribbon and some paper flowers. I set them aside to dry. I found a vintage photo in my laboratorie paper stash from Tim Holtz; punched it out with my  scalloped heart punch and layered it and popped it up with pop dots on a parchment looking sheet of paper. I placed it in the center of my dish and embellished the edges with bling ( a girl gotta have bling). In my stash I found a small piece of crocheted lace ( also a treasure from my thrift store), some small paper flowers leftover from a previous project ( I'm starting out my year trying to use things from my wonderful stash to create projects). The "finds" are amazing... I found a heart shaped button, a stick pin with pearls on it and some small ivory colored hearts. I added a little highlight to my project with interference red perfect pearl mist. It still needed something else so I added small hearts and tiny bling to the ribbon! It didn't quit come out the way I
wanted but I'm not too disappointed. I will probably go back and "tweak" it I could not find more of the tiny roses (I want them at the top where I attached the ribbon) ... I know I have some ... BUT I would not have made the deadline if I stopped to hunt for them... so there you have it ... my Vintage Heart Hanger!    Below is a close up photo !

More CHA 2014

Wow... it's been a couple of days since I went ... but I'm STILL excited about the things I saw!!
They had a Designer Challenge Panel in Ranger Booth. All the designers were given distress ink to work with ( they were all given the same product) and had to create a project... their projects were so amazing. Ranger has some of the most creative Designers around!!  Some photos were shown with first photos I posted. But I wanted to come back and post these.

Also there were so many amazing projects in the booth ... I wanted to share more...

Aren't these amazing? They are all using some of the new products. I think one of my favorites is the Found Relatives (Vintage Portraits)... oh these are so fun; especially with the Ephemera, and those amazing Cabinet Card Frames... oh and those cool  Trims. Just so much Vintagy goodness!!

This quilt was amazing... it was done with Tim's fabrics ( they were released back in the summer)... just so awesome !!

Just look at all that Ideaology  goodness ... can't wait to get my hands on some of it!
Okay that's all for now ! I've got to "settle" down and get to this months tag... don't forget to come back and see it! You might want to visit Tim's site http://timholtz.com/blog/ and Ranger http://rangerink.com/ to see more of CHA 2014; you'll enjoy it ! :)

CHA 2014

CHA 2014 was just so awesome! I am so happy to have been able to go for at least one day. My highlight of CHA for me is to spend time at the Ideology Booth and to see Tim Holtz  demos.  I also love walking around to the various booths and seeing the amazing work of all the Design Teams from the various Companies. Doing the Make-N-Takes just takes the experience "over the top"!
You ALL know I'm a Tim-A-Holic so you know where I spent most of my time ... you guessed it... Ideology, Sizzix, Ranger and Stampers Anonymous!!

It was so awesome to see so many of the other Designers in person too... I saw Dyan Reaverly, The Gentleman Crafter, Wendy Vecchi, Dina Wakely, Karen Burniston, Tammy Tutterow...

Just so exciting to be in same place with these talented people ... gives you a "magical" feeling like maybe some talent would rub off... LOL! I guess I just love seeing that they are "real" human beings!

Just so many projects to see, not to mention the new product... OMG so exciting ... I said that already huh?? I'm still writing notes as more things come to me ( ideas and tips shared by the demonstrators, ideas for projects etc.) .

Just so much to take in... I took lots of photos of projects so that I would remember details on them... just so much inspiration...Well I could go on forever... but I won't ! If you get the opportunity check out some of the blogs to see more photos from the show... just incredible !!
