Compendium Challenge 34
The One That Didn't Make It
Hi everybody... Happy Thursday! What a day it's been . Well Compendium Challenges are winding down. I did not submit my project this time , my other activities this week did not allow me the time I needed to participate. But I had to at least attempt it.
Boy oh boy was that a challenge. This week the challenge was Glazed Mosaics p. 60 in Tim Holtz's book A Compendium of Curiosities Volume II ( I'm still playing by the rules... you gotta go to the book for instructions ). Do go and check out Linda's blog http://studiol3.blogspot.com/. There are some other amazing projects for you to see.
I must admit, even I had to laugh at my tag; don't know where this idea came from ( must be the drugs from the dental work I had done today ). My imagination was running WILD... I guess this could fall under the category of whimsical... it was fun!
My "unsuspecting" weapons of choice this week were my Crafty Secrets Alice In Wonderland stamp set, my Tim Holtz Mixed Media Stamps. I was clearing off my work area and I had a tag that I had used to "mop" up excess distress stains from a previous project... I do this and set the tag aside for some future use... so it's got a combination of colors of distress stains ( fired brick, broken china, brushed pewter and tarnished brass). I distressed the edges with brushed corduroy distressing ink. For my mosaic pieces I used wild plum, shell pink, salmon, cloudy blue, aqua and stream alchol inks. To finish off the tag I used eyelash yarn to add more whimsy. Hope you enjoyed seeing it as well as I did creating it. I believe we have one more challenge... I'm sure gonna try to complete that one!
If I don't ... thank you so much for visiting me here at QueendoomRelics... do come again. I look forward to an inspirational 2013 !

Look At That Moon ...
This was such a beautiful sight we were on the 10 freeway late in the afternoon ( don't worry... I wasn't driving) I just had to take this picture. It amazes me how well you can see the moon that time of afternoon! I did not have my glasses with me so I could not see to "journal", by time I got home I had forgotten about it.

12 Tags of 2012 w/ Tim Holtz
12 Tags of 2012 December/January
Wow ... I can't believe it's already December and we've finished
12 Tags of 2012 with Tim. It was an amazing year. As you know Tim did not do a tag in January
so he gave us the January tag at the end ( or as he called it the "owed" tag ).
We used those awesome metallic distress stains to create the backgrounds. They are amazing! . I went into doing the tags thinking it was going to be so tedious. On the December tag we used that Stacked Words Strip die... it is so cool, and so easy. The January tag we used that new Mirrored... omg... so very cool; easy to cut out easy to use, so I was pleasantly surprised! The Word Play die is awesome!! I think I'm in love with the Blueprint stamps... it was fun using my distress markers ( I'm getting better with them) to color the snowman; gosh I felt like an artist.
It was wonderful to use so many of my Tim "toys" this past year. I can't wait to see what Tim has in store for 2013. I missed not doing 12 Tags of Christmas this year, but 12 Tags of 2012 was just as adventurous and challenging!
Well it's Christmas morning ( 3:55 A.M.) ... Merry Christmas ! I'm going to secure my area ( Tiny Tim and Lefty love investigating my work area) then I'm going to bed for a few hours! I have no plans but to enjoy "playing" later on ... I get some serious ME Time ... woo hoo !!! Enjoy your day, go check out Tim site too http://timholtz.com/12-tags-of-2012-december/, so you can see all the instructions for the tags and the tags the other Tim fans have done. It's amazing to see all the talent.
Come back and visit my blog later I may have Compendium 34 Challenge done... we'll see !

JOYFUL CREATIONS
JOYFUL CREATIONS
December Monthly Challenge - Inspiration Emporium
Hi Everybody! It's that time of month again... I'm catching up on my challenges! My friends over at
http://blog.inspirationemporium.com/ are sponsoring the Joyful Creations Challenge.
In honor of my friend Joy... who is such a "Joy" to know, I used her favorite color... broken china! I first met Joy over the phone while frantically trying to order supplies for Tim's 12 Tags of Christmas a few years ago. We had great conversation and I later met her in person at CHA.
I created a tag using Reindeer Flight, Carved Ornaments with the Joy Mover & Shapers Die and the Ticket strip and Vintage Lace Alterations strips. I used Snow Flurries & Snowman Set embossing folder and Calendar 2 , Odds and Ends and Grunge Flakes stamps from Stampers Anonymous. I used broken china, tumbled glass and stormy sky distressing ink and broken china and brushed pewter distress stains and snow cap paint dabber. To embellish my tag I also used Tim's tinsel twine and crinkle ribbon. For finishing touches I used bling, red embroidery floss, rub-ons and oh yes distress markers!
These past years it has been my "JOY" to meet and share with so many awesome Tim Holtz fans. It's great to be part of such a great crafting community. I wish you All the Joy that this Christmas Season brings ... Merry Christmas and have a Blessed New Year !

This week our challenge from Tim Holtz's A Compendium of Curiosities Volume II is with that fun Tissue Tape. Instructions can be found on page 25. Now, if you have not gotten this book yet I'm sure our sponsors over at http://www.simonsaysstamp.com/servlet/StoreFront would love for you to visit them. You could even put it on your Santa List ... they have them there along with some other cool Tim supplies !!
I can't tell you the instructions, but I can tell you that tissue tape is so very easy to use and is so versatile... you gotta get some of it if you don't have it ( I'm helping you with your Santa List ... :) !
My "weapons of choice" this week are my Tim Holtz Christmas Stamps , Mini Holidays 2 , Holiday Wishes, and Calendar 2 ( all Stampers Anonymous); I used my evergreen bough, festive berries and iced spruce distress inks, snow cap paint dabber, perfect pearls (from paint palette... a couple of challenges ago), my styled labels die and my mini reindeer & 25 set from Tim's Alterations Mover and Shapers. And of course Tissue Tape (Symphony). Misc. items from my Queendom stash Cardinal Glitter rub-ons and Darice rhinestone stickers. white feathers (seemed Christmasy to me ).
I so enjoyed using my Tim toys!
As the end of the Compendium Challenges nears... I'm reflecting on all that we have done. It's been fantastic... I love my book. I've enjoyed seeing the projects my fellow Tim fans have created and I've been challenged to explore and push my on creativity to new heights. I even have fun cleaning up and re-grouping for the next challenge. Well I can't wait to see what's next ... in the mean time I'm off to complete my Tim tags from 12 tags of 2012!

I love a challenge (boy have I come a long way )! This month over at Graphic 45's

Other misc. supplies from my Queendom stash, Bazzil bitter chocolate cardstock, paper leaves and jute twine. I distressed my edges with walnut stain distressing ink. Thanksgiving Placecard November Challenge
Inspiration Emporium November Challenge - Thankful Settings
At Thanksgiving and other special events of the year I enjoy doing tablescapes and making place cards for my table. Well, since I did not have dinner at home this year I did not set my table. But my friends over at Inspiration Emporium are hosting "Thankful Settings" for their November Challenge over on their blog http://blog.inspirationemporium.com/ so I decided to enter my place cards. You can check my blog for the fun details of how I created them.
A Thanksgiving PlaceCard
A Thanksgiving Placecard
Oh... this was fun...using Starbucks cup sleeves I cut out pumpkins and acorns ( Mini Acorn & Pumpkin set) . Distressed them with spiced marmalade, wild honey, bundled sage and vintage photo distressing ink. I further embellished the acorn by topping the tip with antique bronze distress stain; and embellished the pumpkin with lime green stickles. Using my Tattered Leaves die I cut leaves from scraps of card stock and gave them texture using my bone folder, distressed the edges with vintage photo distressing ink and added splashes of antique bronze distress stain to one leaf, and stamping the other. Next I covered a cup sleeve using the antique bronze distress stains ( I love these). Next I punched a 3" circle from Authentique Thankful Collection paper. I assembled all of the componets layering them on an inverted cup sleeve ( I found it stood up on it's own better inverted) using pop dots on the acorns to make them stand out.

Special moments...
Jayden and his "Tia"
Some of the most special moments are the "sidebars" with the little ones. Kyme and Jayden have this special bond. She is HIS "Tia" and he is HER "Sharkbait"... they're conversations are too funny!
There is nothing like our family time of fellowship, food, and fun ! Dinner was awesome hosted by my older sister Portya and her husband . We had turkey with stuffing, velvety mashed potatoes, sweet potato casserole, green bean casserole, crescent rolls and biscuits, and an awesome squash soup too!
Nobody went hungry in that house! We had a few "MIA" Larry (napping so he could go back to work), Ross (nursing his back), Sisco, Dr. Chrisy, and Aidan ( Dr. Chrisy got called in to work; the Nanny was off so Nana Sisco to the rescue) and Sonny ( my husband the resident MIA). Thanksgiving every year seems to become more difficult for our family as we have family members that have gone home to be with the Lord ( just weeks before Thanksgiving) and we miss them sorely. God has Blessed us richly in spite of our varied circumstances we continue the traditions set by our parent's and grandmother... WE GATHER TOGETHER !!

Worksheet
At all of our families we have a raffle and play games through out the gathering. We get raffle tickets for attendance, for bring our bibles and for games. Some of the games include locating various scriptures or quoting bible verses. In lieu of those games the kids had a worksheet for Thanksgiving and they received a bookmark for completion of their worksheets.

12 Tags of 2012 November Tag
12 Tags of 2012 November Tag
Oh my what a fun tag... I started out disappointed because I did not have that fabulous silhouette stamp set that Tim used ( I love it it's on my wish list). Trip to the Queendom archives... I found my awesome fall stamp set, I think it is TPC Studio ( not sure it's lost it's outer wrapper). OH NO , I did not have some of the stains either (darn that Tim for using such cool colors that you just think you gotta have them all... I used what I had crushed olive, mustard seed, spiced marmalade, fired brick distress stains; mustard seed, weathered wood, wild honey distressing inks... wow , a pretty palette!
I had those cool mixed media stamps...I felt like a "big girl artist" using those. I love these stamps,
they add so much to your project. I don't know what the twine looking string was, I pulled it from my stash but it separates and was easy to colorize just like the paper twine Tim used. See I CAN use what I have to make a cool tag and be please with it too!! For all my fans that think I own everything Tim Holtz ever made... NOT ( not to say I wouldn't like to own every thing) ! I DO have a rather LONG wishlist . Even I have come to realize I can't have everything, but it sure is fun to dream !! More importantly I'm learning how to use the things I've bought... Thanks Tim !

Compendium of Curiosities
Challenge 28 Reflection Stamping
I can't believe we are at challenge 28 can you ? I joined Linda over at http://studiol3.blogspot.com/ with the CC2 challenges around about Challenge 17. It's been an amazing journey; I've learned so much, seen some talented artist and have had loads of fun trying to keep up. Thank you Linda!
Okay, so Challenge 28 is sponsored by her friends over at SimonSaysStamp.com, hope you've been over there to check them out... I have! They have Tim Holtz stuff and if there is something of his you want and don't see they'll try and get it... how cool is that !!
I love my A Compendium of Curiosities Volume II by Tim Holtz; I can always use it to refer back to when I forget a technique. So this week we are using the Reflection Stamping technique on page 65. Get your book out and play along... you still have time!
This week my weapons of choice ( I like saying that you know... LOL ) are my reflections stamps CMS 111 and CMS 112, page 65 showed two versions of the technique and I tried both ( that's all I can tell you...turn to page 65 , then look closely at my card !). I also used my Artful Silhouette Stamps, my Sizzix Birds, Flowers and Branches embossing folder. I loved my perfect pearls palette from challenge 25 so I used it to paint some of my details, added some pearls, ribbon and a word plate from my stash , I thinks it's a making memories embellishment. Each week has been a challenge to come up with a way to use the techniques taught, that in itself can be a challenge but so fun... Don't forget to go look at the other creations at StudioL3. See you next time!

Compendium of Curiosities 2 Challenge 27
CC 2 Challenge 27
Ink Palette - Alcohol Ink
This week the challenge was from p. 52 of Tim Holtz's A Compendium of
Curiosities Volume II . Interesting technique... once again I did not have all the supplies ( I won't bore you with this weeks adventure) :) I used this week's technique to create a unique tag with an overlay.
I must say though, I had an interesting time improvising... I thought I owned the fillable pen BUT to my surprise NO I DO NOT !! I used my LePlume Blender.
My weapons of choice this week Dylusions Ruby Rainbow stamp, Dylusions Say What You Mean stamp, #8 manila tag, Tim Holtz Tag and Bookplate die and citrus, sunshine yellow, red pepper, sailboat blue, sunset orange and cranberry alcohol inks, peeled paint, wild honey, spiced marmalade and vintage photo distressing inks and Tims' bubble and honeycomb texture fade (bubbles). I used packaging from one of my Tim dies to cut a tag, that I used as an overlay. The photo does not do it justice it came out rather cute , I added fiber to add some more "whimsy" !
Linda over at http://studiol3.blogspot.com/ has worked very hard to bring us these awesome challenges each week, we appreciate her and this weeks sponsors over at www.thefunkiejunkie.com.
Don't forget to go checkout the other challenge projects ! See you next time !

My beautiful aunt...
Today we celebrated the homegoing of my Aunt Candy (Ernestine Candace Fuller), she was the last surviving sibling on my moms side of the family... my last aunt on either side of my family ( my mom or dads side). A haunting revelation...we my siblings and my cousins are now the "older" generation!! Praise God we were blessed to have them all and we love and appreciate their legacy!
Oh and a side note... this was my "first" funeral as a minister ( not by myself) but along with another minister what a privilege and honor... thank you family!

CC2 Challenge 26
Crumpled Kraft Suede
What an awesome technique this week...I say that all the time don't I ? But really we have been learning some awesome techniques. You gotta check out Linda's work ( and the others too) at her blog http://studiol3.blogspot.com/. The work is amazing; what's even more amazing is that we have an opportunity to win a $25 gift certificate from this week's sponsors The Funkie Junkie Boutique http://www.thefunkiejunkie.com/... how cool is that!
Okay, you know the drill I cannot give you instructions...BUT I can tell you where to find them; turn to page 40 in Tim Holtz's A Compendium of Curiosities Volume II ( you've gotten your book by now right? ).
My weapons of choice this week are peeled paint distress stain, copper and green patina perfect pearls, and spun sugar distress marker. I created my background for my tag per page 40.
I then added one of the Shanghai Girls cut from Graphic 45 Bird Song Collection paper. To give it more definition I created an inner frame with my spun sugar distress marker and I used vintage photo distress ink for the outer edges. I fussy cut flowers from the Good Fortune paper (G45 also), I highlighted the flowers with the spun sugar marker and green patina perfect pearls on the leaves, and dabs of copper perfect pearls in flower centers. My finishing touches were to pop up the flowers with pop dots, then I added a bow at the top which I colorized with peeled paint distress stain. Can't believe how easy that was, such a great look ... feels cool too !

Inspiration Journal October Challenge
Inspiration Journal October Challenge Spooktacular Decoration
Wow ... cuttin' it close ! I wasn't going to try to complete my project, BUT...it was so much fun
I needed to share! I created this hanger re purposing the flaps from a cardboard box, string from a package, dryer sheets and an imagination :) !
I used my Tim Holtz distressing inks ; ripe persimmon, seedless preserves, spiced marmalade, dusty concord and peeled paint to color the card board. I distressed the edges and the torn areas ( torn to expose the ribbing) with black soot distressing ink... love the effect! I used Tim's rickety house die that I cut from black corrugated cardstock, using the boo die I die cut 31 and covered it with glitter ( using the technique from the October Tag of 12 Tags of 2012) to create the glitter. I experimented and used my on the edge picket fence die to cut the burlap fence... very tricky technique. I used stretched and torn used dryer sheets to create the "wisp" in the sky and the spider web at the bottom.
Let's see... I used the rosette die to create the flower and the Tim Holtz stamp for the calendar. Oh yes the witch and the bats are a Tim Holtz die also. The pumpkins, skeleton and words came from my K&Company stash. Hope you enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed making it. And thank God it survived the cats... Tiny Tim thinks it's hanging for him !!

October Tag 12 Tags of 2012
12 Tags of 2012 October
Aah I finally got to my October tag! I pretty much stuck with the original with this one. I found myself oooing and aahing all the way to the end. The tissue wrap over the tag is so cool, the paint added and then the stamped spider webs, spritzed with that heirloom gold perfect pearls... wow...way cool! You gotta go to Tim's site and look at the tag at various stages http://timholtz.com/12-tags-of-2012-october/ ! Colorizing the rock candy dry glitter was amazingly easier than I thought it would be, I had glitter everywhere ( it was so fun... I glittered a few other items for another project) !
That Boo die is cool and the spider added to it just completes the look. Thank you Tim for another fun tag

FW:Endeavor's Final Mission 10/12/12
First stop, on it's way to the Science Center ( photos courtesy of my Sisco). I had plans to be there and thanks to city officials my plans were changed!! BUT...there is always a "ram in the bush" !
Pictures taken on the spot !!!
TV Photo Endeavor ( Channel 5 )
I thought all I was going to have of this memory was the photos from TV; I figured that was better than none at all. The origins plan was for me to be there for the parade. But the parade was cancelled. So I took what photos I could from TV.

Compendium of Curiosities 2 Challenge 23
Here we are Thursday afternoon 6 hours and 36 minutes before the challenge closes !
Okay, so I really wasn't going to do this one. I had no markers yet... so I went out to look for some.
My plan was to find single ones and buy some harvest colors. Oh no, no singles, no harvest colors... okay I settled for the Vintage set from Michael's... you know how I feel about "settling". Don't get me wrong these are cool colors, just not what I wanted for right now. Next problem ( since I had already decided what I was doing with the harvest colors) What do I do now? So I decided AGAIN, I would sit this one out... But guilt got the best of me. You see I was supposed to be at home nursing an injured foot, I called to get a ride and no one was available so... in 90 weather, I walked to the bus stop, caught the bus and walked another3-4 blocks to Michael's; they did not have markers ! I rode the bus back home. I WAS BUSTED !! My sister came by, anyway I talked her into taking me to Michael's in another city ( up on my foot for another 2-3 hours... did I mention I was supposed to be off of it ?), so I figured after being out, I HAD to do this challenge to justify my being out!
ANYWAY... I did not want to be left out!
Linda over at http://studiol3.blogspot.com/ has been awesome in helping us get prepared for these challenges ( don't know why , but I just didn't think about markers). This weeks Challenge is from Tim Holtz's book A Compendium of Curiosities Volume II p. 50 Distress Markers. You know the drill ( turn to p. 50 for instructions) !
Once I got past the frustration of not having the colors I wanted, having to change my plans, and having to ice my foot, I had fun ! My Vintage Set of markers had five markers; Spun Sugar, Antique Linen, Bundled Sage, Broken China and Picket Fence. For my background I used Spun Sugar, Broken China, Mustard Seed, Bundled Sage and Vintage Photo distressing inks. My other weapons of choice were my Fairy Garden, Little Labels and Mixed Media stamps from Stampers Anonymous and a bird stamp from Hampton Art (I uniquely combined the stamps to get this look). I embellished my tag using Diamond stickles, and a bird from the Classic Adornments (Ideaology), and a ribbon colorized with Broken China Distress Ink. My marker "play" was very interesting! I think I may have to invest in the markers ( I did not entertain the idea of markers prior to this) ... I like them; and I just might start stamping more! Well... I'm on day three off of my foot ... I may have to do some online Retail Theraphy ... LOL !!

Compendium of Curiosities Challenge 22
CC 2 Challenge 22 Riveted Patchwork
Yay ! It's not Thursday and I'm done ! This weeks challenge is from Tim Holtz's book A
Compendium of Curiosities Volume II p. 57. Linda at http://studiol3.blogspot.com/ says we could use our September Tag from 12 Tags of 2012 but I wanted to try this again ( you'll have to visit Tim's site to see September's Tag or my blog).
That patchwork made me think of the Tin Man from Graphic 45's The Magic of Oz Collection ( I actually dreamt about this tag) so I decided to use the Tin Man tag from Tags 2 and I cut out the magic of Oz card from Journey to Oz. paper. It was interesting trying to translate what I saw in my dream to this tag. Again , you know I love my Tim toys (Idea-ology) so I used a hinge clip, swivel clasp, wish word stick, and sprockets gears and of course mini fasteners and jump rings. I cut a grunge heart using my mover and shapers heart die , I distressed it using fired brick and worn lipstick, pumice stone distressing ink and stamped it with a music stamp using sepia archival ink. I distressed the edges of the Magic of oz card and rolled the edge. I also used vintage photo distress ink on the edges.
I used fired brick and worn lipstick distress ink to colorize my ribbon. My final touches were the mini heart brads (Making Memories) and red jewels from my stash. Hope you enjoy my tag as much as I enjoyed creating it!
Oh, I forgot to tell you The Funkie Junkie Boutique is this weeks sponsor. They are offering a $25 gift certificate for the winner of this weeks challenge. Stop by and visit them http://www.TheFunkieJunkie.com and don't forget to stop by StudioL3 and check out the competition! Thanks for visiting... see you next time !

Endeavor's Flight ( flyover JPL )
We saw it from the Rose Bowl , it was so exciting I blew my sister and her husband's ears out when I saw it coming "OMG THERE IT IS!! THERE IT IS!!! " You would have to have been there to see
how excited I was... OMG ! Kyme got the great shot, I've got it from a distance in photos ... LOL !
It's so cool up close, you could see it real good ... oh and that sound, and it's escorts... WOW !!!
Endeavour's Flyover JPL
So excited I couldn't get my camera back in mode to take photo (duh ... simple task), so while I'm fumbling and looking at it Kyme got the shot, so we took a pic from her camera !! ( that's my head on the left... hehehe ). I can't believe how excited I was, they are still laughing... I squealed... I tell you !!
Endeavour's JPL FlyOver
To the left center you can see the tail end and the escort plane, then it circles around... OMG...
AWESOME !!!

CC2 Challenge 21
Whew! Are you keeping up with Linda over at http://studiol3.blogspot.com/? I'm trying. Thursday keeps sneakin' up on me (life keeps gettin' in the way of my play time). This week it's Blended Stains p.45 in Tim Holtz's Book A Compendium of Curiosities Volume II. You know the drill I can't give you instructions but open your book to p. 45 ... you STILL don't have it? Not to worry this weeks sponsors Simon Says Stamp has it check them out !http://www.simonsaysstamp.com/servlet/StoreFront
I love the colors of Autumn so my "weapons of choice" this week are peeled paint, antique linen, , pumice stone and spiced marmalade distress stains, Autumn Harvest Stamp set (TPC), vintage photo distressing ink and distress embossing powder, heirloom gold perfect pearls mist, my autumn gatherings die , a few antique cooper mini brads, Season muse token and of course my signature
bling !
After completing my background per the instructions on page 45, I stamped and embossed the floral flourish then I added the layered fruit pieces and leaves (from autumn gatherings), I added brads that I embellished with my trusty Tim hammer and some orange bling interesting effect but I'm not sure I like it yet. Then I spritzed it with heirloom gold perfect pearls... perfect ! Okay, I'm liking it now... that perfect pearls just adds to it so much... the shimmery effect, texture to the fruit... WOW ... like magic. I colorized my ribbon with the stains ... so fun to match the tag! Added the Season muse token and some more leaves at the top we are ready to welcome Autumn ... what a Blessing!
