Check Out The Ribbon...

And the technique for the ribbon so very cool. You gotta go check out Tim's tag...better still join the fun make them. You will enjoy it!  Seriously go visit Tim's site  http://timholtz.com/12-tags-of-2013-january/ . You'll get a chance to see what the other participants are doing too. Not everybody "copys" the tag like I do ( I'm a Tim - A- holic , so I want it to look as close to the original as I can); there are  some very creative people out there !
Well... that's it for now!

Love working with the texture fades.
So amazing how this "stash" turns this blank tag into something this awesome.

12 Tags of 2013 w/ Tim Holtz

Happy New Year Everybody ! Wow... don't know how your New Years started but mine has been interesting. I did not make resolutions  ( or at least that's what I choose to tell myself) this year! I do however want to make it a year of awesome creativeness. I want to focus on UFOs ( YES... I STILL have some unfinished objects... you do too if you're honest :) ).
Tim started off with a "bang" January tag was ready for us... he gave us a  "creative jump start" !
After a whole year of tags  under my belt, and at least four years of 12 Tags of Christmas, I am STILL WOWED, by the creativeness of Tim Holtz. Sometime I don't know what wows me more... his tags or the fact that I can do them!!
I'm like an excited little kid every step of the way... it's just so fascinating!

night, trying to do my hair and get ready for video...Yikes !!
What do I do ? ... I GO TO BED !
Inside of card came to me while I was sleep... YAY !! Used my Tim Holtz stamps to "repeat some of the designs in the texture trade ( see it does pay to have Tim "stash" too ). I also used my dylusions diamond stencil... woo hoo ! Card done !
Gotta go get ready for "call" rehearsal, video shoot is at 1:00 P.M. ...Whew !!

Compendium of Curiosities Finale

A Birthday Card for Tim Holtz

It's the finale! It's been  fun learning all these cool techniques from Tim Holtz's book under the direction of our awesome hostess Linda Ledbetter over at http://studiol3.blogspot.com/. For our final challenge we get to choose any technique from Vol. I or Vol. II of Compendium of Curiosities by Tim Holtz, to create a birthday card for Tim... how cool is that !

What on earth could I do? So many techniques... okay, another dream project... so hard to get those things from the brain to the hands sometime!
So here is the thought behind this card. Tim gives so much to all of us , I wanted to do something that would maybe represent him well... the patchwork embossing folder came to mind. To me it kind of celebrates his style and there are so many "pieces" of his art in that patchwork. I chose broken china, and brushed pewter distress stain to color my background, then I added broken china, evergreen bough and frayed burlap distressing ink ( love this color combo) I then distressed the edges with vintage photo distressing ink. Next I added  an ATC that  I distressed with old paper and antique linen distressing ink , using a distressing tool I distressed the edges and then used vintage photo on them. Then I stamped it with the three men from the steampunk stamp set and then stamped over them with a music stamp. When it dried I crumbled it up so that it looked worn. I liked the reflective  imagery so well I decided to try it again and I used this image from my Tim Seasonal paper stash ( I do know that she did not match the theme of this card... she was the right color!)... Okay use your imagination ... it's January ... it's winter! Next I was so happy with Tim's new technique for the rosette I decided to make him one, it need a center... why not a grunge paper heart; I used fired brick distressing ink on it and then stamped it with my remember this background stamp  (Hampton Art), using the part that said remember, together and enjoy, added the trinket pin (memento)... added three antique gold brads ... that's a Tim touch right? Just in case you are wondering what techniques I used, I used texture fade techniques, paper rosette, reflective imagery and marbled stains ( with metallic stain).

Here's lookin' at you Tim ... Happy Birthday !

Thank you Linda for giving us the opportunity to celebrate Tim in such a special way.
Happy New Year Everybody !
